This World Heritage conservation centre contains all the information relating to the fauna and flora of this UNESCO protected natural region. You will learn for example that the Japanese beech, renowned for its marescent foliage (whose leaves do not drop in autumn but remain on the tree during the winter, only falling in spring when the new shoots come) is a favourite with bonsai lovers. An adjoining room exhibits work by local artists, some of whom have become very famous such as the talented Hirano Shoji.
