Opis
Built in the 12C, abandoned by the court after the 15C, purchased by Cardinal Richelieu in the 17C, before being progressively abandoned, this fortress was rescued by Mérimée. Sited on a rocky outcrop, it is made up of the Fort du Coudray with a 13C keep by Philippe Auguste, the Château du Milieu overlooked by the tall clock tower, royal lodgings, evoking Joan of Arc, the Tour du Moulin and Saint George's Fort, which fell into disuse in the 18C.
