Drama? Yes, please. A Rake’s Progress is no ordinary dining room, and the Line is not your workaday hotel. Housed inside a gorgeous old stone church in Adams Morgan, this “rakish” room shoots big and scores. The dining area offers a sweeping vision of the gorgeous lobby from its second floor perch; while nearby, an open fire hearth illuminates the bustling open kitchen.
The menu is a celebration of American agriculture, built on ingredients specifically found in the Mid-Atlantic region. The offerings rotate with the season, and meat-free courses make a bold statement. A vegetable mille-feuille is tucked with roasted, grilled and smoked root vegetables, before being softly piled over aerated cream studded with charred ramps and cheddar croutons.
