At the turn of the 20C, Dupont Circle and its surrounding area, a smart neighbourhood, counted many magnificent residences, of which the Heurich House Museum is a remarkable example. Housing most of the original furnishings and decoration, the rooms reflect the end of the Victorian era, and hint at the splendour surrounding Christian Heurich, a German-born businessman who made his fortune. The house, built from 1892 to 1894, also stands out on account of it technological innovations.
