The 28th president of the US chose this residence as his place of retirement upon completing his second term in the White House in 1921. The brick Georgian Revival town house, designed in 1915 by Waddy B. Wood, was described by Wilson's wife as "an unpretentious, comfortable, dignified house fitted to the needs of a gentleman's home." The house has been converted into a museum, which preserves the lifestyle of an upper-middle-class family in the 1920s and serves as a window on the family life of the president who led the US through World War I and into a position of world leadership.
