Opis

This museum is a must for anyone who wants to better understand the history of Réunion. The Musée de Villèle was once the home of the Panon-Desbassyns family, wealthy landowners involved in both the growth of the sugar industry and the fanatical slavery it practised. A beautiful garden, a superb, remarkably furnished residence (1788) and the outbuildings illustrate the backdrop for this family's life in the 18C and 19C. A fascinating guided tour.
