Opis

The Route du Temps from Sisteron to Digne, goes through the Pierre Écrite canyon. A cliff face near the bridge bears a lengthy Roman inscription in honour of Dardanus, prefect of the Gauls, who opened the passage in the early 5C. The text relates how he founded a "City of God", Theopolis, after converting to Christianity, the remains of which have not yet been excavated.
