Opis

The Temple of the Double Forest was founded by the Wei from the north of China and rebuilt in 571 by the Qi, also from the north of the country. Its current appearance, however, dates from the Ming and Qing periods. Immense in size (15 000m2), it comprises around ten rooms housing 1 600 painted terracotta statues from the Yuan and Ming dynasties, and is considered one of the most beautiful complexes in China. Numerous themes from the Buddhist world are represented here: Buddhas, guardian divinities, as well as ordinary people, pavilions, mountains and clouds.
