This quiet avenue was opened on the famous "maquis" of Montmartre, a piece of waste ground of ill repute formerly occupied by windmills. Studios and houses stand here side by side today, such as the Villa Léandre (n° 23 bis). A sculpture by Jean Marais pays homage to Marcel Aymé, the author of Passe-Muraille, on the Place Marcel Aymé named in his honour.
