Originally a Renaissance-style hunting pavilion, Moritzburg Palace was extensively remodelled for Friedrich Augustus I in the early 18C by MD Pöppelmann. Recognisable by its imposing corner towers of ochre and white, the colours of the Saxon Baroque, the ceremonial palace is set off to perfection by the surrounding grounds which include a man-made lake. Don't miss the hunting trophies and Meissen porcelain, some the work of J.-J. Kaendler and J.-G. Kirchner.
