Opis

10km northeast of Prémery, the summit of one of the highest points in the Nivernais (417m) has the remains of an important 13C château, built by Mahaut de Courtenay, Countess of Nevers. Head left past the chapel to reach the Calvary cross standing on a medieval castle mound. From the orientation table, there is a vast panorama, notably of the Morvan mountains; on a clear day, Lormes church is readily visible.
