Although less impressive than its equivalent in Fez, the Tanners' Quarter in Marrakech is nonetheless an impressive sight. If you don't mind the mud and smell, this district offers an interesting insight into this distinctive, traditional activity. Guides, preferably one of the tanners, explain the different stages of leather manufacture to visitors. To make sure that you don't miss anything, it's best to visit early in the morning.
