This avenue, 1 300m long and 90m wide, is the most majestic of Lisbon's avenues. On either side are late 19C buildings and more recent constructions housing hotels, travel agencies, insurance companies and airlines, etc. The pavements are covered in black and white mosaics made from limestone and basalt.
