Beginning in 1986 as a therapy center for patients with head injuries, Moody Gardens has expanded into a leading attraction. The glass Rainforest Pyramid is home to more than 1,700 tropical plants, fish, birds and insects. The Discovery Pyramid showcases the world of space through exhibits and interactive displays. The new Aquarium Pyramid contains 1.5 million gallons of water for marine life from the North and South Pacific Oceans, South Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. A re-created 19C paddle-wheeler named The Colonel is docked at Palm Beach, which is made of white sand shipped from Florida. Two IMAX theaters complete the offerings.
