Opis

For a long time, the Chaalis estate retained a sense of monastic contemplation tinged with romanticism thanks to its royal abbey. Up until 1912, it inspired an enthusiasm in its owners that led to their acquisition of a quite remarkable art collection, which includes two panel paintings by Giotto, now on display in the château-cum-museum. Be sure to also visit the Chapelle Ste-Marie-de-l'Abbé, one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in the Picardie, decorated with magnificent 16C frescoes.
