The Plateau des Mille Étangs, named after the multitude of small lakes formed here by glaciers, is surrounded by the Vallée de l'Ognon and the Vallée du Breuchin. The forests, secret paths and peat bogs still have a magical aura and are the setting for many a legend. After leaving Faucogney-et-la-Mer, make your way to the St Martin Belvedere for a stunning panoramic view over the Vallée du Breuchin, then follow the Route des Étangs to further soak up the atmosphere of this isolated region reminiscent of Finnish landscapes...
