All that remains of this primitive church, built on the site of an old mosque in 1251 after the Reconquest, is the immense tower-portico of the entrance. It was rebuilt in the 18C after having been burned by English troops. From the top of the medieval tower, you have beautiful views over the town and coast. Not far from there, the Galeria do Trem (Rua do Trem) exhibits the works of contemporary Portuguese and foreign artists.
