This imposing building, a remnant of the ramparts that once stood watch over the entrance to the port, today houses a café-restaurant. It consists of a semi-circular tower and an adjacent structure with a door. The bells, by Hemony, are among Holland's finest. The top commands a fine panorama of old Enkhuizen, its harbour, the IJsselmeer and, in the distance, Friesland. The wharf south of the tower commands a pretty view east of the harbour and the backs of the houses.
