Bordered on the north by Canada, the Blackfeet Reservation stretches east from Glacier Park across 50mi of rolling hills and prairies notorious for hot, dry summers and wind-whipped winters. Blackfeet migrated west from the Great Lakes around 1700 and settled in bison country. By the mid-18C they ruled the northwest plains and gained a reputation for aggressiveness. Today three Blackfeet confederacy tribes live in Montana and adjacent Alberta, earning livelihoods mainly in ranching and farming.
