If ever there was a place that epitomised the American maxim that "bigger is better", this is surely it. The largest shopping and entertainment complex in the US, it encompasses more than 520 stores, an indoor theme park, 50 restaurants and fast-food joints, some 15 cinema screens, an 18-hole mini-golf course, nine nightclubs, an aquarium and even a wedding chapel. The Mall of America is the state's top tourist attraction.
