Built between the 15C and 17C, the Antigo Convento de Jesus has a 15C church with, in its lower chancel, the early-18C tomb of St Joana, a magnificent piece by architect João Antunes. A museum since 1911, the site houses collections of sacred and Baroque art: 16C Coimbra School sculpture; Portuguese Primitive paintings on wood (including a late-15C portrait of Princess Joana attributed to Nuno Gonçalves); Italian primitive art; 18C paintings on leather.
