Opis

The imposing and majestic temple of Kom Ombo overlooks the Nile, from which it appears after a long meander in the river. Its architects from the Ptomelaic period chose to build it strategically against a rock rising out of the sand, from where it was possible to monitor the river and provide access to the gold mines of Nubia. Its originality stems from its combination of two temples: one dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek, the other to the falcon-headed Haroeris. It has preserved some stunning low reliefs, particularly on its outer gallery.
