The mountain rises to the east of Alanya, offering a magnificent scenery of jagged cliffs plunging into the sea. The road struggles to hug the coastline and at every bend the scenery changes, offering glimpses of steep cliffs and creeks. The landscape becomes gentler around the Anamur delta, where a headland juts into the sea. Here the seaside resort of Anamur is well worth a visit for its fine beaches and the site of Anemurium, which gives an excellent insight into the organisation of an ancient city.
