Opis

Completed in 1916, the Shipping House is now home to a luxury hotel. It was designed by J. M. van der Mey, P. L. Kramer and M. de Klerk. Scheepvaarthuis is considered to be the first true example of the Amsterdam School of architecture. Its series of superimposed windows enhance the building's vertical lines, which are broken by its diagonal roof design. The sculpted maritime-inspired decor depicts whales, mermaids, waves and boats.
