You enter this church dating from 1773 via the churchyard, which is encircled by a high brick wall. George Washington and Robert E. Lee are among the personalities to have worshipped here. It is traditional for the US president in office to pray in Washington's pew (plaque no 60) on the Sunday that falls nearest 22 February, his birthday.
