Charles Kuralt, TV correspondent for the CBS News Station, said that Beartooth Highway, over 107km/66mi long was, "the most beautiful car-ride in all of America". Starting from Cooke City, the road climbs gradually, skirting scenic lakes, and then does a series of sharp bends and climbs. The views become truly jaw-dropping after Beartooth Pass (3337m/10948ft) and the vast summit plateau is covered in wildflowers in summer framed by jagged peaks all around.
