The fountain on the little Plac Mariacki is adorned with the statue of a very photogenic character named The Student (Pomnik Żaczka). It's a copy, erected in 1958 by a craftsmen's guild, of one of the figures of Veit Stoss's famous altarpiece that decorates the altar of the adjacent basilica.
