Beuron's flourishing Benedictine congregation played an important part in the revival of monastic life, the liturgy and Gregorian chants in Germany. The Gnadenkappell, abutting the Baroque abbey church, is in the Beuron style, a late 19C school of sacred art much influenced by Byzantium.
