The upper town of Bergamo, encircled by high walls during the Venetian domination, provides visitors with many hours of interesting walks. Those arriving by cable car will arrive at the picturesque Piazza el Mercato delle Scarpe, before heading to Piazza Vecchia, Palazzo della Ragione (a palace rebuilt in the 16C), and the Palazzo Scamozziano, Piazza del Duomo or the 15C Cappella Colleoni. The avenue that runs alongside the ramparts commands a fine view.
